On August 1, the Summer School of the Constitutional Court of Georgia “Constitutional and Human Rights Law” was completed, which was held with the financial support of EU4Justice Judiciary Support Project; EWMI/PROLoG - Promoting Rule of Law Program in Georgia funded by the USAID and in cooperation with Grigol Robakidze University.
Vice-President of the Constitutional Court of Georgia Mr. Teimuraz Tughushi and Chief of Party of USAID-funded EWMI/PROLoG - Promoting Rule of Law Program in Georgia Mr. Giorgi Chkheidze congratulated the students on successful accomplishment of the Summer School and awarded with the Certificates.
Out of the participants of the Summer School three best students were revealed: the best participant of the Summer School – Iviko Khvtasi and th best participants of the Moot Court Sessions - Vasil Zhizhieshvili and Niko Ateshidze. It is noteworthy that the best participant of the Summer School will be able to start h professional activity through internship and further employment at the court.
During two weeks, the participants of the Summer School attended the lectures on various actual issues of the Constitutional Justice, including the peculiarities of exercising constitutional control in the USA and Europe, standards of limiting human rights, covert surveillance and personal data protection. In the frame of the Summer School the Moot Court Sessions were held.
The lectures of the Summer School were delivered by the Vice-President of the Constitutional Court of Georgia Mr. Teimuraz Tugushi, a Team Leader EU4Justice - Judiciary Support Project Justice Renate Winter; as well as invited Professors and Experts: Jason C DeSanto, a Senior Lecturer, Northwestern University School of Law (USA); Professor Richard Vogler, Professor of Comparative Criminal Law and Criminal Justice, Solicitor, University of Sussex; Senior International Expert (UK); Dr Nora Ni Loideain, Director and Lecturer in Law, Information Law & Policy Centre; School of Advanced Study | University of London (UK); Tamar Kaldani, State Inspector of Georgia (2013-2019); Davit Gabekhadze, Head of the Legal Provision Department at LEPL Operative Technical Agency; Givi Bagdavadze – Head of Head of the International Relations Division of Legal Support Department of the Chief Prosecutors’ Office of Georgia.
The Constitutional Court of Georgian has been organizing the Summer School since 2008 aiming to raise professional knowledge of future lawyers in the Constitutional and Human Rights Law. For participation in the Summer School, 28 best students from the Law Faculty were selected from the Universities of Georgia.
