President of the Constitutional Court Visits the Republic of Turkey
On 25-28 April the President of the Constitutional Court of Georgia Prof. Dr. Merab Turava, together with the Head of the Secretariat of the Court Mr. Giorgi Lomtadze, paid a working visit to the Republic of Georgia and participated in the activities in celebration of the 60th anniversary of the Constitutional Court of the Republic of Turkey.
In the frame of the event, a conference was organised on the theme: “Interpretation of the Constitution in the Protection of Fundamental Rights and Freedoms”. The judges of the Constitutional and Cassation Courts of the Republic of Turkey, Constitutional Courts of Europe and Asia and relevant institutions delivered reports at the conference, as well as the Judge of the European Court of Human Rights in respect of the Republic of Turkey, the representatives of academia and international organisations.
Prof. Dr. Merab Turava congratulated Prof. Dr. Zühtü Arslan, President of the Constitutional Court of the Republic of Turkey on the occasion of the 60th Anniversary and focused attention on the positive dynamics of mutual cooperation between the constitutional courts and expressed readiness for continued cooperation in bilateral and multilateral directions.
President of the Constitutional Court of Georgia hold meetings with the presidents/judges of partner Constitutional Courts, as well as the former President and Special Representative of the Venice Commission Mr. Gianni Buquicchio.
