Visit of Mr. Cristian Urse at the Constitutional Court of Georgia

Today, the Head of the Council of Europe Office in Georgia Mr. Cristian Urse visited the Constitutional Court of Georgia and met with the President of the Constitutional Court of Georgia Mr. Merab Turava.

At the meeting, the parties talked about the activity of the Constitutional Court and the importance of the decisions of the Court in the development of the Georgian legal system. The parties, also positively noted an existing close cooperation between the Constitutional Court and the Council of Europe Office in Georgia in the frame of the Council of Europe and EU joint project: “Enhancing the accountability and the efficiency of the judicial system and the professionalism of lawyers in Georgia”, which foresees the component of institutional strengthening of the Constitutional Court of Georgia.

Mr. Cristian Urse,, who is completing his five-year mission to Georgia, expressed respect towards the Constitutional Court of Georgia and evaluated positively the role of the Constitutional Court in the process of strengthening the Rule of Law in Georgia.

Mr. Merab Turava thanked Mr. Cristian Urse for his support and valuable contribution in the process of strengthening ties between the Constitutional Court of Georgia and the Council of Europe. President of the Constitutional Court of Georgia also expressed gratitude for the productive work performed by Mr. Cristian Urse in Georgia and wished success in his future professional activity.
