Summer School
Closing Ceremony of the Summer School – ““Right to Fair Trial: Institutional Guarantees of Judicial Independence and Impartiality.”
Today, the President of the Constitutional Court of Georgia Prof. Dr. Merab Turava took part in the closing ceremony of the Joint Summer School of the Constitutional Court of Georgia, Free University Tbilisi and Washburn University (US) on the topic of “Right to Fair Trial: Institutional Guarantees of Judicial Independence and Impartiality”. The event was held at the Hotel “Hilton Batumi”.
The President of the Constitutional Court of Georgia Mr. Merab Turava, Dean of Law School of Free University Tbilisi Mr. Revaz Khoperia as well as other lecturers of the Summer School addressed the participants and guests.
In the frame of the Summer School the aspects of fair trial, institutional and personal guarantees of the independence of the judiciary in the case law of the Constitutional Court of Georgia and European Court of Human Rights, as well as guarantees of due process and the jury trial proceedings in the practice of U.S were discussed. Moot court sessions were held during the Summer School.
The Summer School was held for the fifth time in cooperation with Free University Tbilisi, which was supported within USAID/PROLoG grant.
