invites Bachelor’s and Master's students and recent graduates of law faculty to participate in the selection competition for the Summer School:
The Summer School Programme:
- Different Models of Judicial (Constitutional) Review in the USA and Europe;
- Equality and non-discrimination in U.S., Europe, and Georgia;
- Freedom of information in a constitutional democracy: Standards in U.S., Europe, and Georgia.
As part of the training, the participants of the Summer School will be introduced to the case law of the Constitutional Court of Georgia, the U.S Supreme Court and the European Court of Human Rights and take part in the moot court sessions. The lectures by the invited international experts will be conducted in English.
Lectures will be held at the Constitutional Court of Georgia, in Batumi. Summer school participants will be provided with transportation and accommodation.
The Summer School lectures will be conducted by:
- Bill BOWRING, Professor of law at Birkbeck College, University of London (UK); Director of the LLM/MA in Human Rights;
- Jonathan MANES, Adjunct Professor at Northwestern Pritzker School of Law; Attorney in the MacArthur Justice Center’s Illinois Office;
- Maartje DE VISSER, Associate Professor of Law at Singapore Management University;
- Christine EVANS, Adjunct Professor at Northwestern Pritzker School of Law;
- Teimuraz TUGUSHI, Justice, Constitutional Court of Georgia.
Upon the completion of the Summer School, the most successful graduates will be offered a paid internship and further employment opportunities at the Constitutional Court of Georgia.
General Requirements:
Applicants must be:
▪ Law students or recent graduates from the law faculties of Georgian universities;
▪ Fluent in English.
Interested applicants should submit their CV (no more than 3 pages with photo) and a valid English language proficiency certificate by 19 June to the following e-mail address: summerschool2023@constcourt.ge
Only shortlisted candidates will be provided with a link to an online written test (English language and Law) and an interview.
