Visit of the Vice President of the Constitutional Court to Hungary
On 22-23 January 2025, the Vice President of the Constitutional Court of Georgia, Ms. Manana Kobakhidze, paid a working visit to Budapest, Hungary, where she participated in the international conference dedicated to the 35th anniversary of the Constitutional Court of Hungary.The topic of the conference was: “Life Cycles in the Operation of Constitutional Courts - Challenges and Responses”.
The event was opened and the following welcomed the audience: the President of Hungary, the Chairpersons of the National Assembly and the Constitutional Court. The conference was addressed by Gianni Buquicchio, Special Representative of the Venice Commission of the Council of Europe.
The thematic sessions discussed the role of constitutional courts in the legal system and their relationship with legal traditions. The conference participants discussed the role of constitutional courts in the functioning of legal systems, including the impact of accession to the European Union on the process of constitutional proceedings, as well as current trends in the protection of fundamental rights. The final session of the conference discussed the impact of the state of emergency, artificial intelligence and digitalisation on the protection of human constitutional rights.
The conference was attended by presidents and judges of constitutional courts of European countries, as well as representatives of international organisations and academia.
