President of the Constitutional Court of Georgia meets the President of the European Court of Human Rights
President of the Constitutional Court of Georgia Mr. Zaza Tavadze met the President of the European Court of Human Rights Mr. Linos-Alexandre Sicilianos in the frame of the working visit to Strasbourg. At the meeting the parties talked about a successful cooperation between the Constitutional Court of Georgia and the European Court of Human Rights, which has been developed during years.
The meeting was also attended by the Judge of the European Court of Human Rights Mr. Lado Chanturia, the representatives of the apparatus of the ECHR, Head of the Department of Protocol and Public Relations of the Constitutional Court of Georgia Mr. George Lomtadze and Permanent Representative of Georgia to the Council of Europe Ambassador Irakli Giviashvili.
The role of the Constitutional Court of Georgia in the process of upholding the rule of law and strengthening the legal state was positively marked at the meeting. The parties also talked about a high-rated conference on Human Rights and Environmental Protection, which will be held on April 9, 2020 in Strasbourg with the support of Georgia, as a chairing country of the Committee of Ministers of the Council of Europe. The event to be opened by Mr. Tavadze and Mr. Linos-Alexandre Sicilianos. The conference will be attended by high officials in the field of human rights from the United Nations Organizations and Council of Europe.
Furthermore, Mr. Zaza Tavadze invited Mr. Linos-Alexandre Sicilianos to the Congress of European and Comparative Law in Batumi, to be hosted by the Constitutional Court of Georgia in the fall of this year.
Mr. Zaza Tavadze is participating in the event in Strabourg dedicated to the Opening of the Judicial Year by the invitation of European Court of Human Rights. Visit will be completed on January 31.
