Visit to the Republic of Lithuania
On October 25, Vice President of the Constitutional Court of Georgia Ms. Manana Kobakhidze and Chief Advisor at the Secretariat of the Constitutional Court of Georgia Ms. Ekaterine Mzhavanadze paid a working visit to Vilnius, where they participated in the International Conference "From the National Constitution to Transnational Constitutionalism", dedicated to mark the 100th anniversary of the 1992 Constitution of the State of Lithuania and the 30 th anniversary of the 1992 Constitution of the Republic of Lithuania.
The President of the Republic of Lithuania, the Speaker of Seimas, the President of the Constitutional Court of the Republic of Lithuania, members of the Supreme Court of Lithuania, Supreme Administrative Court of Lithuania and Court of Appeal of Lithuania as well as the President of the Court of Justice of the European Union and the President of European Commission for Democracy through Law (Venice Commission), Presidents and members of the Constitutional Courts of foreign countries and the representatives of the international organizations, academia and diplomatic corps, participated in the event.
In the frame of the visit the following issues were discussed: Constitutional Traditions and Constitutional endurance; “Constitution-centric” legal system: the art of constitutional interpretation; Transnational dimension of national constitutions; Constitutional lessons leading towards a path forward,
At the conference the Vice President of the Constitutional Court of Georgia Ms. Manana Kobakhidze made a presentation on the theme: "New edition of the Constitution of Georgia - legacy of the past and steps towards the future". She focused on the role of the Constitutional Court in the implementation of European standards of human rights protection.
Presidents and Justices of the Constitutional Courts of Albania, Armenia, Austria, Belgium, Czech Republic, Estonia, Germany, Latvia, Moldova, Poland, Portugal, Romania, Slovakia, Slovenia and Ukraine also made speeches at the conference.
