Lamara Chorgolashvili

Former Judje of the Constitutional Court of Georgia

Born on June 14, 1931 in the village of Samikao, Abasha District.

Graduated with honors from high school, the Faculty of Law of Ivane Javakhishvili Tbilisi State University, and postgraduate studies at the Institute of Economics and Law of the Georgian Academy of Sciences.

In 1953-59, he worked as a secretary at the Ministry of Justice, then as a consultant at the Judicial Bodies Department;

In 1952-72 - as a state arbitrator of the State Arbitration Court under the Council of Ministers of Georgia;

In 1972-75 - as a member of the Supreme Court of Georgia;

In 1975-91, he was the Deputy Chairman of the Tbilisi City Court;

In 1991-92 he worked as a research fellow at the Institute of Law of the Georgian Academy of Sciences;

In 1992-96 he was the Head of the Generalization Department of the Supreme Court of Georgia. He actively participated in the preparation of drafts of housing and other normative acts of Georgia. He was a member of the government commission developing the draft of the new Civil Code (he prepared two chapters of this project). For many years he was a member of the Scientific-Consultative Council of the Supreme Court of Georgia.

On July 7, 1996, he was appointed a member of the Constitutional Court of Georgia by the Supreme Court.

He has been awarded the title of Honored Lawyer of Georgia.

In 1999, by the decree of the President of Georgia, he was awarded the class rank of a judge of the highest qualification class.

In 2001, he was awarded the Order of Honor for his significant contribution to the creation and establishment of constitutional control, and the legal education of state officials and the population.

He has one child and two grandchildren.
