Nikoloz Cherkezishvili
Former Vice President of the Constitutional Court of GeorgiaBorn on August 30, 1928 in Tbilisi.
In 1952, he graduated from the Moscow Institute of International Relations, specializing in international law.
In 1952-1957, he worked in the editorial office of the newspaper "Zaria Vostoka";
In 1957-1965, he was an instructor, deputy head of the department, head of the science and culture department of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of Georgia;
In 1965-73, he was the director of the Georgian State Museum of the Georgian Academy of Sciences;
In 1976-90, he worked as the editor-in-chief of the republican Russian and Georgian newspapers.
In 1990, he was elected the first chairman of the Independent Union of Journalists. For many years, in parallel, he was engaged in scientific and pedagogical activities.
He has been awarded the title of Honored Journalist of Georgia. He is a Candidate of Sciences, Associate Professor; Laureate of the Prize of the Council of Ministers of Georgia.
He has published works in Georgian, Russian and English.
On July 7, 1996, he was appointed a member of the Constitutional Court of Georgia by the Supreme Court.
In 1999, by the decree of the President of Georgia, he was awarded the class rank of a judge of the highest qualification class.
In 2001, he was awarded the Order of Honor for his significant contribution to the creation and establishment of constitutional control, and the legal education of state officials and the population.
He speaks Russian and French.
On September 28, 2004, he was elected Vice President of the Constitutional Court of Georgia and, at the same time, Chairman of the Second Collegium of the Constitutional Court.
He has a wife, two daughters and three grandchildren.
