Vakhtang Gvaramia

Former Judje of the Constitutional Court of Georgia

Born on November 7, 1939 in Poti.

In 1957, he graduated with honors from Poti High School, and in 1962 from the Faculty of Law of Tbilisi State University.

He worked as a legal consultant at the Poti Sea Port (1962-1963).

From August 1963 to 1990, he served in the internal affairs bodies and passed almost all levels of the service hierarchy, from the position of investigator of the Poti City Department of Internal Affairs to Deputy Head of the Investigation Department of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Georgia.

In 1990, he was appointed First Deputy Prosecutor General of Georgia.

In 1991, he was awarded the highest special rank of State Counselor of Justice, 3rd class.

In 1994-1999, he was Deputy Minister of Justice, and from 1999 to 2003, he was a member of the Parliament of Georgia.

On June 23, 2003, he was elected a member of the Constitutional Court of Georgia.

He began exercising the powers of a judge on September 23, 2003.

In 2004, he was awarded the rank of judge of the highest qualification class by the President of Georgia.

He has a wife and two children.
