Day of Adoption of the Constitution of Georgia
Day of Adoption of the Constitution of Georgia
On August 24, 1995, the Parliament of Georgia adopted the Constitution. It changed the Georgian state and its legal and political reality, raising eternal values of our state to the status of Constitution. This was a firm democratic choice of the citizens of Georgia in favor of the supremacy of the Constitution, the rule of law state and fundamental human rights.
A Constitution is alive when its principles are upheld and applied in everyday life. It is in this process that we bear a great responsibility to remain loyal to the Constitution - the supreme law, being the very foundation of the state.
The Constitution serves as an architect of the rule-of-law state. Upholding the Constitution is an ongoing process, and the Constitutional Court is one of the principal guarantors of its strength.
I extend my congratulations to everyone on this significant anniversary of the adoption of the Constitution!
Let us be worthy followers and reliable guardians of these constitutional ideals!
Revaz Nadaraia
President of the Constitutional Court of Georgia
