On 23 October 2025, at 12:00, the Constitutional Court of Georgia will hold a merit hearing on the case of Giorgi Kikabidze, Genadi Kvachakhia, Natia Amiranashvili, Rusudan Dumbadze, Tatia Tsotsonava, N(N)LE ‘Studio Monitori’ and others v. the Chairperson of the Parliament of Georgia (Constitutional Complaints Nos. 1786 and 1841).
Disputed regulations on the case to be reviewed, on the one hand, impose an obligation on an accredited journalist to terminate an interview if a member of the Parliament of Georgia, a staff member of the Parliament, or a visitor of the Parliament refuses to allow the interview to be recorded; and, on the other hand, provided that in the event of a breach of this obligation, the accreditation of a journalist with parliamentary or special accreditation may be suspended or restricted for a period of one month, and in the case of a repeated breach, for a period of six months.
