Visit to the Republic of Turkey
On September 20-24, 2022, Assistants to the Justices of the Constitutional Court of Georgia Mr. Iva Khavtasi and Ms. Tamar Kiknadze paid a working visit to Ankara, where they participated in the Conference organised by the Constitutional Court of the Republic of Turkey.
Topic of the conference was: “Interpretation of the Constitution in the Protection of Fundamental Rights and Freedoms”. At the conference, the representatives of the Constitutional Courts of Eastern Europe and Asia, as well as staff members of the European Court of Human Rights made presentations.
The presentation of the representatives of the Constitutional Court of Georgia was related to two judgements of the Constitutional Court of Georgia on separation of the constitutional principle of adversarial proceedings and the adversarial model of criminal procedure, as well as the right of a judge of a criminal court to put forward questions to the parties during the hearing.
