Webinar on the issues of Freedom of Expression
On June 29 and July 1, the Judges and staff members of the Constitutional Court of Georgia took part in the webinar dedicated to the issues of freedom of speech and expression. The webinar was delivered by Professor of the Northwestern University Jason DeSanto and a judge of the United States Court of Appeals for the Second Circuit Honorable Robert D. Sack.
The First Amendment of the Constitution of the United States, its basis and relevant case law of the Supreme Court were discussed at the meeting. The webinar was dedicated to the actual issues of freedom of speech and expression such as defamation, direct face-to-face insults, fighting words, profane expression, ethical standards and self-regulation of the media, disinformation and fake news, hate speech, free speech during protests, as well as in advertising (including political advertising).
The event was held in the frame of the USAID Rule of Law Program.
